A special interest group is suing the Missouri Attorney General and the state over the right of businesses to possess and operate electronic gambling machines.

The Missouri Licensing Advocacy Group (MOLAG) filed the suit in Cole County Circuit Court on Friday, June 26. This suit comes more than a week after a St. Charles bar owner challenged the state’s enforcement of certain gaming machines.

In a statement, MOLAG says its suit is an association case representing several operators, retailers, and liquor-license holders who wish to remain anonymous out of fear of reprisal from the state.

MOLAG accuses Missouri AG Catherine Hanaway and the state of overstepping their legal authority by allegedly threatening not to renew a business’ liquor license or face other consequences.
