Milwaukee’s mayor has joined the Potawatomi tribe in opposing a proposed Menominee casino project in Kenosha.
Supporters say the project would create jobs and bring significant revenue to Kenosha County and Wisconsin.
Opponents are concerned the new casino would siphon revenue from the existing Potawatomi casino in Milwaukee.
Weighing in on behalf of one of the best known entertainment venues in his city, Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson is joining Potawatomi tribal officials in opposing the long-stymied Menominee casino project in Kenosha.
“In southeast Wisconsin, the Potawatomi Hotel and Casino already serves this area,” he said in a Journal Sentinel interview.
