Leelanau Sands Casino & Resort, which is owned and operated by the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, responded to rumors this week that it would be closing its doors in the near future.
“We have been made aware of a sponsored advertisement circulating on social media falsely claiming that our casino is closing,” Leelanau Sands posted on its Facebook page on Tuesday. “This advertisement is completely false and not affiliated with our organization in any way.”
Shared alongside the post was a photograph of a Facebook ad (pictured), which came from from an account dubbed “Tribal Online.” The ad claims that Leelanau Sands Casino “is officially CLOSING its doors,” before adding: “But the fun doesn’t stop – we’re moving ONLINE!”
