Sports betting is surging in Massachusetts, and kids and teens are finding ways to bet underage, prompting concerns about addiction, anxiety and depression.
But Medfield High School is piloting new curriculum aimed at educating students about the risks of gambling.
“We have to do something about it now before it gets too out of hand, and it is already out of hand,” said Paul Coutinho, a teacher leading the class.
Medfield is one of 15 high schools across the state, along with seven middle schools, teaching kids about the problems that can come alongside the thrill of gambling.
