Lower hotel rates not filling rooms as Las Vegas visitation drops again in August

The lowest Las Vegas hotel prices of 2026 failed to fill the rooms in August, a Wednesday tourism report showed.

Las Vegas visitors fell to 3.03 million in August, a 4.3% decline from August 2025, and 136,700 fewer than visitors in July. A Tuesday report from Harry Reid International Airport showed airport passenger counts dropped by 9% compared to August 2025.

The average daily rate for a Las Vegas hotel room fell to $150.32 in August, about $7 less than room rates in July. But hotel occupancy rates struggled along at 74.1%, down 3.4% compared to August 2025. Weekend occupancy came in higher at 85.5%, but midweek occupancy was down to 69.4%.

On the Las Vegas Strip, where the average daily rate was $153.15, occupancy was at 77.0%.
