Jackson city leaders want more details before signing off on an agreement that could bring a nearly billion-dollar resort development – and millions of dollars in new revenue – to the capital city.
On Tuesday, the Jackson City Council tabled a request from Mayor John Horhn to declare roughly 93 acres along the Pearl River as surplus property and execute an option to sell that land with LeFleur Development LLC.
The group is proposing buying the land for approximately $111,000 and seeking a developer to bring in a resort development and casino.
William Richardson, with the LeFleur group, said the proposed development could generate as much as $24 million a year in new sales and property taxes for the city and create 2,600 direct jobs.
