The Las Vegas casino floor isn’t what it used to be. Industry leaders said visitors are budgeting more, gambling less, and wealthier.
The Nevada Economic Forum met in its regularly scheduled session Wednesday, hosting several presentations focused on the health of the state economy. Steve Hill, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority CEO and president, said year-over-year visitation is down 7.5%.
“We are still gradually losing leisure travelers, but right now our convention attendance is so strong that it is more than overcoming that number,” Hill said. “And net-net, we are up more than 100,000 people year over year.”
