Las Vegas Strip pop-up bar offers new twist on ’90s nostalgia

As popular as ’90s nostalgia is, it’s not easy to overlook some of the decade’s silliness.

Frosted tips. Furbys and Tamagotchis. The way so many of us were not only willing but excited to dance the Macarena.

“Saved by the ’90s,” the pop-up running through August inside Close Company in The Venetian, is embracing that tacky side of the decade.

“I thought, ‘Man, wouldn’t it be great to just really lean into the cheesy, neon ’90s drinks that everyone loves to hate on? ’ ” says Shannon Tebay, The Venetian’s director of mixology. “ ‘But instead, elevate them a little bit and see how we can approach these in a way that’s both nostalgic and also delicious.
