In the wake of Monday morning’s mass shooting at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, security measures at casinos are front and center for the rest of the summer season. Jonathan Alvarez, CEO of Protective Force International, highlighted the importance of proactive security measures in preventing such incidents.

Alvarez explained that his officers, who patrol 16 casinos in Southern Nevada, are trained to “challenge” individuals who may pose a threat. “So typically we challenge those individuals. And challenge, not necessarily in a negative term but we have to address that,” he said. He emphasized the need to stop potential threats at their source and described the term ‘challenge’.
