An off-Strip casino is expanding its use of artificial intelligence, allowing guests to book rooms, explore amenities and request services through ChatGPT.

Rio hotel-casino’s new AI service puts those functions inside ChatGPT, letting users interact with the resort through a conversation rather than navigating its website or calling the hotel, according to a news release. The service is part of Rio’s broader use of AI to handle guest interactions across multiple channels.

The platform, developed by hospitality technology company Traversing.ai, allows guests to check room availability, explore packages, browse pool cabanas, find restaurant hours or contact specific hotel departments.

The system uses model context protocol, a technology that allows AI applications such as ChatGPT to connect with external services and carry out tasks beyond answering questions.
