Shortly after dawn Friday at Durango, a massive steel truss was hoisted into place in the $385 million expansion project at Station Casinos’ newest and fastest-growing resort.
Suffolk Construction Co., the general contractor, raised the largest piece of structural steel for the project at the southwest Las Vegas Valley hotel-casino, located on Durango Drive just south of the 215 Beltway.
Weighing approximately 180,000 pounds and stretching nearly 140 feet long and 20 feet tall, the colossal truss required a crane weighing roughly 650,000 pounds to perform the lift, with an additional helper crane to support.
Durango, which cost $780 million to build, opened in December 2023.
