Informa has agreed to acquire Clarion Events, the parent company of ICE Barcelona and the iGB event and media brands, from Blackstone for an enterprise value of £2.2 billion (US$2.9 billion). The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter.
Blackstone bought Clarion in 2017 for a reported £600 million (US$793 million) and put the company up for sale last year.
Informa has not announced any plans for the gaming events. ICE and iGB Affiliate are contracted to Fira de Barcelona at least through 2029. The next ICE runs January 18-20 with iGB Affiliate on January 19-20.
