The Illinois Senate Executive Committee will hold a hearing to discuss state Senate Bill 2749, which would expand the Illinois Substance Use Disorder Act to include persons with gambling disorders.

Democratic Sen. Julie Morrison, the proposal’s lone sponsor, will present the bill to the committee at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the state capitol… Two proponent witnesses, David Schwartz and Matthew Slade, are also slated to speak before the committee.

According to the language of SB 2749, services such as “counseling, referral, and other supportive services” would have to be provided after a collaborative plan with the Illinois Department of Human Services and Illinois Board of Education to create instructional resources for “gambling disorder prevention and awareness.”
