FanDuel is closing its retail sports betting operations at the horse racing track Fairmount Park here this month, as online wagering grows across the state.

Vince Gabbert, senior vice president of U.S. gaming and general manager at Fairmount Park, confirmed Monday the impending closure of the sportsbook. Horse race betting will continue, Gabbert said.

FanDuel did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The 101-year-old racetrack has worked with New York-based online sports wagering firm FanDuel for over a decade to offer track betting on horse races. In 2020, Fairmount Park added a retail FanDuel sportsbook — betting on football, baseball and other non-track sports — and then renamed itself FanDuel Sportsbook and Horse Racing.
