The Aurora City Council is set to take a series of votes in January geared toward establishing the tax increment financing district for the Hollywood Casino-Aurora resort project.
Aldermen have scheduled a vote on establishing the Farnsworth-Bilter Tax Increment Financing District, as it is called, for the regular Jan. 23 City Council meeting.
The vote will actually be on three different ordinances, one approving the project area redevelopment plan and project that goes with the district, one designating the area at Farnsworth Avenue and Bilter Road, and one adopting the actual TIF district.
The district would be on several land parcels now owned by Penn Entertainment, Hollywood Casino-Aurora’s parent company. The TIF district was contemplated as part of a redevelopment agreement between the city and Penn Entertainment approved by the City Council on Oct. 26, 2022.
