The local government, Calibido, is once again looking to offload Casinos de Tenerife with its casinos in Taoro, Santa Cruz, and Playa de Las Américas, having failed to sell them in 2018 for €25m [$29m]. Analysts believe the figure could now be double that amount.

The Playa de Las Américas Casino, located in the H10 Gran Tenerife Hotel, is expected to bring in €7.6m [$8.9m] this year, fueled by the growth of both slots, up 20 per cent, and table games, up five per cent, following its renovation and modernization. This would give an increase of 13.4 per cent from last year’s earnings.
