Google will allow certified online gaming operators to advertise through YouTube’s Masthead placement from October 21 this year, extending the format beyond its existing allowance for sports betting.
A masthead is a video advertisement that sits at the top of YouTube’s homepage and, until now, the format has been available for sports betting advertising but restricted for most other forms of online gambling.
Advertisers must hold certification under Google’s Gambling and Games policy and comply with applicable laws, regional licensing requirements and age restrictions. Google hasn’t specified which markets will be covered by the Masthead expansion.
