First, let’s call internet gambling, or igaming, for what it is — a logical outgrowth in Ohio of the sports betting that’s already exploded on personal devices since being legalized in the state. And that explosion in sports betting already comes with all the negative consequences that some two-faced politicians now purport to see at risk with igaming, should it become law in Ohio. (Two pending bills — one in the Senate and another in the House – seek to legalize aspects of it.)
So, note to Gov. Mike DeWine and House Speaker Matt Huffman, who’ve both raised caution flags about igaming — including its potential for addiction and for youth who risk serious financial jeopardy: That jeopardy is here and now.
