How much revenue does it take to blind regulators to serious violations of the rules and criminal, predictable offenses against children?

Is $244 million enough?

That’s how much Connecticut raked in between 2022 and 2024 in revenues from online gambling operations. “Altogether, the expansion of gambling has resulted in an additional $244 million flowing into state coffers in a little over three years, helping to fund key services.” Hearst Connecticut Media reported in 2025.

Leading the “Look who just caught up!” brigade this spring are the advocates of online gambling and sports betting. Under state law, no one under 21 can participate, but it seemingly never occurred to them that children would find their way into the gambling websites.
