A New York developer plans to spend more than $1 billion on new entertainment, recreation and residential projects at the Claridge Hotel and the adjacent site of the former Sands Casino Hotel.

D-Wayne Prieto told The Press of Atlantic City on Wednesday that the goal is to create year-round attractions and activity at the two oceanfront sites.

The projects would include what he described as the largest man-made outdoor ski slope in North America, encircling a 20,000-seat stadium that could be used for minor league baseball or soccer and concerts; 1,500 new apartment units; a new 800-room hotel; a 30,000-square-foot esports center; a 40,000-square-foot spa and bathhouse; dozens of outdoor sports courts including pickleball, basketball and volleyball; a go-kart track circling parts of the area; new shops and restaurants, and outdoor recreation space that could host concerts in warm weather and ice skating in winter.
