This year’s midterm elections are expected to be especially tight, with control of both the House of Representatives and Senate in the balance.

The use of prediction market election data is becoming increasingly valuable. Traditional polling methods continue to rely on phone participation and models linked to historical demographic voting patterns. In the recent past, these methods have come up short in their ability to provide accurate projections.

With money on the line, a significant sample size of willing participants, and constantly updating data, prediction markets could offer another data point for assessing potential election outcomes.

The strength of prediction markets for any event is their ability to pick up shifts in sentiment.
