The Toronto Power Generating Station sits like a jewel at the top of a crown, the stunning 1906 Beaux-Arts building perched at the edge of the Niagara River just upstream from one of the most powerful waterfalls in the world.
Once tasked with supplying power to Toronto, the venerable landmark is now being repurposed as the Toronto Power Hotel, Niagara Falls’ first five-star boutique hotel, with a planned opening in 2030.
The building’s restoration is a sign of a broader transformation of the Niagara region in an effort to become a year-round world-class tourist destination, a multibillion-dollar strategy endorsed by the provincial government.
