Jim Diodati says Niagara Falls has hit the jackpot with an announcement from the Ontario government that could lead to more competition in the local casino market.
The city’s mayor said Niagara Falls will “never” be Las Vegas, but having “a few casinos” is more than just about gaming — it’s about leveraging gaming to get ancillary attractions.
“More performance venues, more theatres for things like Cirque du Soleil and other performances,” he said. “People absolutely love and embrace the OLG (Stage) and the Avalon (Theatre) — it’s a benefit to locals and visitors.
“We’re going to get more of those. We’re going to get more spas. We’re going to get more restaurants. Some nicer hotels.”
