Internet gambling set yet another monthly revenue record in May, providing further proof that online betting is where the future growth is in New Jersey.

Figures released Tuesday by the state Division of Gaming Enforcement show internet gambling brought in $276.3 million in May, up nearly 12% from a year earlier. It surpassed the previous record of $273.2 million set in December.

In contrast, money won from in-person gamblers at Atlantic City’s nine casinos was virtually flat in May, up 0.1%.

That may have been influenced somewhat by the launch of live table games at New York’s Resorts World casino in Queens at the end of April, an analyst said.
