Atlantic City firefighters carried out a daring high-rise elevator rescue on Thursday evening at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.
Firefighters were dispatched to Borgata at about 5:23 p.m.
The crews encountered “an elevator entrapment in a blind shaft that required specialized rope systems and a coordinated vertical extraction,” said the Atlantic City Fire Department.
Firefighters Anthony Phillips and Brian Berrio performed an approximately 190-foot descent into the shaft to reach two trapped women — who they assisted during the extraction.
The Atlantic City firefighters secured and lifted the elevator occupants, one at a time to safety.
