Donna DeCaprio has been elected president of Local 54 of the Unite Here casino workers union in its first uncontested leadership vote in 40 years.
DeCaprio, who was promoted to succeed Bob McDevitt as president of the union in May 2023, stood for election to the post for the first time June 2.
No other candidate put forth his or her name to challenge her, and she was declared the winner in an uncontested vote, union official Rocco Mahoney said.
The public announcement of her victory was made Thursday.
“I am honored and humbled to lead this union at such a pivotal moment,” DeCaprio said in a statement.
