What do you like about working in gaming?
The people, both customers and fellow colleagues. I appreciate the business to consumer aspect of the industry. The ability to convert the large amounts of performance data into actions and remain better connected to our best customers’ preferences is an attractive aspect of the industry. Additionally, I do not take lightly the opportunity and responsibility to offer leadership and daily inspiration to our many team members across the company. It’s truly a great opportunity to develop and invest in our people’s professional growth.
Did anything surprise you about the industry when you first started? (pleasant surprises, hopefully).
It’s an extremely data driven business. You don’t have to guess, there’s enough data to know.
Were you familiar with gambling before landing a job in the industry? What were your thoughts about gaming before starting to work in the industry?
Yes. I worked as a consultant for an integrated resort who was looking to adopt one of the earliest offerings of a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) solution. I thought it was a fascinating business and how great the opportunity would be to be a property General Manager one day…So many businesses under one roof.
Has your impression of the industry changed at all?
Only favorably. I think the industry offers great professional opportunity and is a viable option for those seeking to grow their careers. The industry continues to proliferate with sports betting and the continued possibility of iGaming growth.
What major trends do you see emerging in the gaming industry over the next 5 to 10 years?
Insertion of AI into the operational and back office functions, the continued growth of iCasino, and exploration by operators and manufacturers for consolidation opportunities
What advice would you give to aspiring leaders in the gaming industry?
Always be in a learning capacity. The industry constantly evolves, and we should position ourselves to evolve with it. Ask a ton of questions and seek opportunities to stretch yourself – embrace discomfort
