After detecting unidentified attempts to access its computer network, Casino Del Sol reported the incident on the its website and suspended services, including casino and bingo credit, cash cage and ATM services, promotional kiosks and Club Sol in another incident that turns the spotlight to ongoing concerns over cybersecurity threats to the casino industry.
The Tucson, Ariz., casino is working closely with the FBI and Pascua Yaqui Police Department as the investigation is ongoing.
“The electronic room keys weren’t working, so employees had to guide people to their rooms and open the doors for them,” a Casino Del Sol guest told Tucson’s Channel 13 News.
The casino’s restaurants, bars, and shops switched to cash-only transactions, though table games, poker, slot machines and the SolSportsbook remained operational.
“We extend our sincerest apologies for any disruption or concern this incident may have caused to our valued guests, your trust and security remain our top priorities,” a casino news release read.
In October 2023, MGM Resorts International disclosed it was the subject of a cyberattack that disrupted its operations and compromised the private data of many of its customers, including contact information, date of birth, driver’s license numbers, Social Security numbers and passport details. The company estimated that the attack and the resulting operation disruption would cost up to $100 million.
