LAS VEGAS (AP) – Attorney General-elect Adam Laxalt has chosen a lawyer from one of Las Vegas’ most prominent law firms to serve as the top attorney in his office’s gaming division.

Laxalt announced this week that he’d chosen J. Brin Gibson as chief deputy attorney general for the division.

Gibson’s work in the law firm Lionel, Sawyer and Collins included helping form a gaming control system for the nation of Vietnam and consulting on regulations in other foreign countries.

He worked closely with the late Robert Faiss, a prominent lobbyist who was considered one of the pre-eminent authorities in Nevada gambling law.

Gibson is an adjunct law professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and is serving his second term on Nevada’s Colorado River Commission.

He’s a graduate of Brigham Young University.
