HAWK POINT, Mo. (AP) – A 72-year-old eastern Missouri woman is the first Missouri Lottery player to win $25,000 a year for life as part of a new game.
Lottery officials say Eleanor Mirgaux of Truxton claimed her prize on Monday in the “Lucky for Life” game. She matched the numbers 1, 18, 22, 37 and 40 with a ticket purchased at Mini Market in Hawk Point. If she had also matched the Lucky Ball number of 13, she would have won $1,000 a day for life.
Mirgaux opted for a lump-sum payment of $390,000 over annual payments of $25,000. Asked why, she said, “I’m 72 years old.”
Mirgaux plans to put the money in the bank.
