What was your first job in the gaming industry? Did you have previous experience in other industries? What drew you to gaming?

My first job in the industry was as a Game Operator at Circus Circus Hotel and Casino. As a kid, my dream was to be a teacher, but after I started working in the gaming industry, I was hooked! During the COVID-19 pandemic, I decided to pursue an Executive MBA and explore other industries. While I enjoyed learning about these new fields, the gaming industry ultimately pulled me back in.

What do you like about working in gaming? What is it about the industry that keeps you engaged? What is unique about it?

It’s exciting to be responsible for crafting unique gaming experiences for our customers. I love how we’re always evolving to stay relevant—whether it’s launching a new game, opening a restaurant, or implementing new technology. There’s always something new on the horizon!

What advice do you have for women seeking careers in gaming?

There are organizations you can join to network and connect with people in the gaming industry. One that I joined is Global Gaming Women. Many job skills from other industries directly translate into gaming, whether in operations or supporting roles. It’s important to identify which of your skills can transfer to this industry. Once you know where you want to begin, go ahead and apply for the job!

What are your long-term goals? What do you hope to accomplish?

My short-term goal is to manage a casino. Ultimately, I want to make a positive impact on people’s lives through my work—that’s my true end goal.

Do you think there is a personality type that’s well suited for this industry? What personality traits do you possess that help you in this industry?

Our industry is inclusive—we welcome a wide range of personalities. Since our business is multifaceted, it thrives on diverse skill sets and traits. Personally, I believe that the qualities that have helped me the most are self-awareness, humility, and an attitude of gratitude.
