MGR Casino Chairs has informed the industry that Zeno Rizzo, founder of the company, passed away on Sept. 17.
Born in 1948, Rizzo founded the company based in Castelfranco Veneto, Italy, in the late 1990s. He based his design concepts on handcrafted standards 0f the Italian province of Treviso. MGR designed and made chairs for bingo, poker, slots, and sportsbooks. The company eventually entered the U.S. market with an office in Las Vegas.
With his wife Maria and sons Guido, Giovanni, Giacomo and Giorgio, Rizzo grew the company into a “global benchmark for the gaming industry.” He left everyday management of the company to his sons a few years ago but remained engaged in MGR’s planning and product lines.
Rizzo’s expressed his philosophy found in this sentence, found by chance in his notes by MGR: “Escaping banality, making beauty democratic, rejecting both bourgeois luxury and mass production in harmony with the aesthetics of simplicity ”
“Thanks to his devotion to work, dynamism and respect towards clients, suppliers and competitors, Zeno was considered as leader and mentor for all the people within the company he founded in the late ‘90s,” a spokesperson said on behalf of the company. “He was always available to give advice to employees and to support his children during deals and the development of new ideas.”
Rizzo passed away in his sleep from a heart attack. He is survived by his wife, sons, and five grandchildren.
