Senior members of the US-China Business Council, including Wynn Resorts CEO Craig Billings, were among U.S. business leaders who met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in New York to discuss trade and investment issues.
USCBC members joined delegates from the National Committee on US-China Relations at the meeting, which also included representatives from universities and think tanks.
The meeting included discussion of market access issues; the importance of a level playing field for U.S. companies in China; and the need for a fair, predictable, and stable business environment. The outcomes of the recent summit between President Trump and President Xi in Beijing also were discussed.
“Today’s meeting was an important opportunity to hear more about the important agreements reached by the two presidents in Beijing and to raise some of the most pressing issues affecting U.S. business in China,” USCBC President Sean Stein said in a statement. “The consensus between President Trump and President Xi is bringing much needed stability and predictability to the relationship. We are now looking for the two sides to focus on the long-standing barriers and market access issues that harm business and undermine stability.”
Among the participants in addition to Billings were:
- USCBC Board Director and NCUSCR Executive Vice Chairman Evan G. Greenberg, Chairman and CEO, Chubb Limited
- Robert M. Davis, Chairman and CEO, Merck & Co.
- Stéphane de La Faverie, President and CEO, The Estée Lauder Companies
- Michael Steen, CEO, Atlas Air Worldwide
- Roger Lynch, CEO, Condé Nast
- USCBC President Sean Stein
