The Tribal Cybersecurity Information Sharing and Analysis Center Thursday announced that membership in the organization is now an allowable expense covered by funds received from the Department of Homeland Security’s Fiscal Year 2023 Tribal Cybersecurity Grant Program (TCGP). The Federal Emergency Management Agency confirmed Tribal-ISAC member is considered an approved expense.
“The Federal Emergency Management Agency lists the Tribal-ISAC as an Encouraged Membership as noted on page 77 of the Notice of Funding Opportunity,” said Tribal-ISAC Steering Committee member Toni Pepper in a statement.
Funds received from the TCGP will help tribal governments address cybersecurity risks and threats that have been occurring “at an alarming rate,” according to a statement issued by Tribal-ISAC. Tribal sovereignty, remote tribal locations, and a lack of resources to address cyber preparedness have created unique challenges for all tribes.
“The security of tribal data and infrastructure is of paramount importance and we are excited to make membership in Tribal-ISAC more accessible to tribes through this grant program,” Pepper said.
TribalHub, a community of technology oriented tribal leaders, will host an open meeting Nov. 27 from 3 to 4:30pm ET in collaboration with FEMA to discuss the TCGP. The session is designed to provide tribal government members and and organizations the opportunity to learn, ask questions, and make connections that will assist with applying for the DHS Fiscal Year 2023 Tribal Cybersecurity Grant Program. Tribes can register for the meeting here.
