An overview of igaming revenue in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, Delaware, and Connecticut, the six states where online gambling is legal in the U.S.
National
Total igaming revenue for October 2021 in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, West Virginia, and Michigan added up to $346.9, an increase of 5% over September’s $329.9 million (with Connecticut not reporting revenue from its first few weeks of internet gambling).
New Jersey
With the $127 million in igaming revenue earned by New Jersey online casinos in October, the Garden State surpassed $1 billion in earnings from internet gambling for the first time. The total for the month also set a new record, breaking last month’s record revenue of $122.6 million by 3.5%. It was the eighth month in a row that igaming in New Jersey topped nine figures and the ninth time this year.
Online casino games took in $124.7.1 million, while online poker earned the other $2.4 million, down 4% from September’s $2.5 million.
Borgata/BetMGM led the pack once again with $38.8 million, an increase of 1.6% over September’s $38.2 million, while Golden Nugget Online Gaming’s $34.5 million was a significant 10% jump over September’s $31.1 million. Michigan’s online casinos produced $109.7 million, setting a third-in-a-row record for igaming revenue and rising 6.7% over September’s $102.4 million. It was also the second month in a row that Michigan achieved more than $100 million in revenue. Year to date, the Great Lakes State sat at $775 million in igaming revenue; at the current pace, it should surpass the $1 billion mark in the first half of December.
Like in New Jersey, BetMGM remains the board leader with $41.4 million in gross igaming revenue, up 2% over September’s $40.6 million. Second-place DraftKings (Bay Mills) came in at $19.7 million and third-place FanDuel (Motor City) earned $17.6 million.
Michigan’s 14 online casino operators paid $20.3 million in taxes to the state in October, up 6.9% over the previous month’s $18.9 million and the highest total for the year. Another $5.5 million (up 5.5% over $5.2 million in September) was collected by the city of Detroit and $2.4 million (12.5% over $2.1 million) by tribal governments.
Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania’s online gaming revenue in October, $102.9 million, was an increase of 5% over September’s $97.8 million and like New Jersey, the Keystone State hit the 10-figure mark in gross igaming revenue for the first time.
Total revenue from online slots increased by 3% to $70.7 million over September’s $68.6 million. Online table games made a substantial increase for the second month in a row, up 10.3% to $29.3 million over September’s $26.3 million, itself a major 27% rise over August’s total. Online poker’s $2.8 million, however, dropped 3.5% down to $2.8 million from the $2.9 million from the preceding month, itself down from the $3.2 million in August.
Penn National Gaming’s $40.6 million continues to hold its perch at the top of the list, with an increase of 5% month over month, while second-place Rivers Casino Pennsylvania’s $26.3 million registered another 1.5% decrease, the same percentage drop as in September.
Pennsylvania collected $43.3 million in taxes in October, a 3.7% increase over September’s $41.7 million.

Igaming in West Virginia has earned at least $1 million now in 17 consecutive weeks (the state reports results weekly); the last time it didn’t was for the week ending June 26.
Delaware
After a month-over-month loss in September, Delaware’s internet casinos rebounded by a substantial 11.8%, with a win of $930,093 over September’s $794,644. It was only the second in six months that Delaware’s igaming total didn’t take a nosedive.
Online video lottery (slot) games once again accounted for the lion’s share of income at slightly less than $712,000, up 5.4% over September’s $671,885, while table games generated $187,453, a whopping 51% increase from the previous month’s $95,625. Connecticut
Connecticut became the sixth state to permit igaming in October, with a seven-day soft launch that ended on the 18th. At press time, a partial-month revenue report had yet to be posted; November’s full-month igaming revenue in the Constitution State should be available this time next month.
