National

Total igaming revenue for February 2022 in New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, West Virginia, and Delaware added up to $361.1 million, a noticeable decline of 8.4% from January’s $394 million and reflecting a drop in all states except Michigan in igaming revenue in the shortest month of the year.

New Jersey

For the 12th month in a row, revenue earned from online-casino gambling in New Jersey topped $100 million; it seems a given that igaming revenue will hit nine figures going forward. However, the $130 million generated by the casinos in February 2022 was a decline of 5.7% from the record-setting $137.8 million in January.

As always, Borgata/BetMGM led the pack with a $37.8 million win, down 3.4% from January’s $39.1 million, while second-place Golden Nugget Online Gaming came in at $34.6 million, a decline of 5.2% from January’s $36.5 million. Third-place Resorts Digital earned $29.9 million, down nearly 10% from the $33 million the previous month.

New Jersey collected $19.5 million in taxes on igaming for the month, a drop of 9% from January’s $21.4 million.

Michigan

Michigan’s online casinos generated $122.8 million in February, not only making it the only state with igaming to register an increase over January, but also setting a new revenue record, beating the old one of $121.8 million set in December, which has three more days in the month. It was a 1.4% increase over January’s $121.2 million and the sixth month in a row that Michigan generated more than $100 million in igaming revenue.

Same as in New Jersey, BetMGM remains the market leader with $46.9 million, up 6.4% over January’s $43.9 million. Second-place DraftKings (Bay Mills) earned $20.1 million, with no gain or loss month over month.

Michigan’s 14 online casino operators paid $21.6 million in taxes to the state, up 11.6% over January. Detroit taxes came in at $6.1 million and tribal governments collected $2.3 million, an increase of 4.6% month over month and the first increase in three months.

Pennsylvania

The third-largest gaming state registered $99.5 million in igaming revenue in February, a drop of 8.2% from January’s $108.3 million. The last time Pennsylvania’s online casinos didn’t generate more than $100 million for the month was November.

Total revenue from online slots, $68.1 million, was down 5.2% from January’s $71.8 million. Online table games earned $31.4 million, down from the previous month’s $33.1 million. And online poker’s $2.9 million was a decline of nearly 15% from January’s $3.4 million.

Penn National Gaming continued to hold its top spot with a gross of $42.7 million, an increase of 3.5% over the previous month.

Pennsylvania collected $42.3 million in taxes from igaming, down 5.2% from the record taxes of $44.6 million collected the previous month.

West Virginia

For the four-week period between January 29 and February 25, West Virginia reported $8 million in igaming revenue, a substantial increase of 15% over January’s $6.8 million, though that was a significant drop of 21.3% from December 2021. Igaming in West Virginia has earned at least $1 million now in 33 consecutive weeks.

Connecticut

In its fourth full month of igaming, Connecticut’s two operators earned $17.1 million, a drop of 9% from January’s record-setting $18.8 million. DraftKings (Foxwoods) dominated the igaming vertical, with $10.3 million in revenue, though that was down a significant 25% from January’s $13.7 million, while FanDuel’s $6.8 million accounted for the other 40% of market share.

DraftKings and FanDuel paid their 18% in taxes to the Constitution State in February, which came to $3.1 million, down, per force, by 8.9% from January’s $3.4 million.

Delaware

Delaware’s February igaming revenue of $843,246 reflected the nationwide downward trend by declining 24% from January’s record $1.1 million, which was the second month in a row of revenue higher than $1 million.

Online video lottery (slot) games once again accounted for the lion’s share of income at $708,121, also down by a bit more than 21% from January, while table games generated $102,844, a whopping drop of 43% from January’s $900,293. Online poker revenue dropped to $32,280, a 22% decline from January’s $41,468.
