Tennessee had a record-breaking sports betting handle of $547.8 million in October, the Tennessee Sports Wagering Council has reported, surpassing the $520.8 million set just last month by 5.2 percent.

It was the third time the state reported a sports betting handle above $500 million. The report only covers handle and tax payments, which reached a record $10.1 million in October. Before September, the record handle of $515.5 million was set in November 2023, up 16.2 percent compared to October 2023.

The Volunteer State was the first to legalize online-only sports betting, launching its market in November 2020. Tennessee bettors have the choice of 12 online sportsbooks, including BetMGM, FanDuel, Caesars, Fanatics, DraftKings, Hard Rock, ESPN BET, Action 247, Betly, Wagr, Bally Bet and ZenSports, which recently enhanced its betting options through a partnership with sports betting technology company Kambi.
