Las Vegas-based Station Casinos, the operating subsidiary of Red Rock Resorts, told its workforce Wednesday it would continue paying wages and benefits through May 15.

Station Casinos operates nearly 20 large and small casinos in Southern Nevada as well as the Graton Resort in Northern California. All were closed by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak ordered the closure of all nonessential businesses in the state last month, including casinos, and recently extended the shutdown order until April 30. In California, the Graton Rancheria Tribe made the decision to close the casino located 45 minutes north of San Francisco.

“In light of this extended closure period, Station Casinos will extend through May 15 the regular pay and health benefits available to our full-time hourly and salaried team members who are currently covered through April 30,” Station Casinos President Richard Haskins said in a memorandum sent to all employees.

The extension also covers 700 part-time workers.

“Nothing is more important to us than the health and wellbeing of our team members, guests, and the entire Las Vegas community, and we wholeheartedly support that decision by the Governor,” Haskins said.

Red Rock Resorts is majority-owned by brothers Frank Fertitta III and Lorenzo Fertitta. The company joins Las Vegas Sands Corp. and Wynn Resorts by committing to pay its workforce during the shutdown.
