Deadwood’s 22 casinos generated $15 million in revenue in September, up 1.8% year-over-year from the $14.7 million generated in September 2024, according to a report published by the South Dakota Gaming Commission.
The report, which divides revenues by game category as opposed to individual casino, shows that of the total, slots generated $13.7 million, a year-over-year increase of 3% compared to $13.3 million earned a year prior; while table games generated $1.2 million, down 10.3% compared to $1.4 million in revenues seen in the previous year. The state generated $1.3 million in tax revenues for the month, calculated as 9% of the average win.
Twenty-five-dollar slots saw the largest year-over-year increase of 59%, from $5.3 million generated in the previous year to this last September’s $12.9 million. One-cent slots accounted for 84.4% of the state’s revenue in September, generating $11.6 million, up 4.1% year-over-year.
Table game revenue experienced a decrease of 10.3% year-over-year, from $1.4 million in the same period last year to $1.2 million in September of this year. Roulette had the largest drop, decreasing by 77.9%, followed by housed-banked poker (27.7%). Blackjack was the only table game to show a year-over-year increase, generating $501,406, up 11.5%.
South Dakota’s sportsbooks handled $1.1 million in September, paying out an average of 88.1% and generating a statistical win of $133,346. The largest portion of bets was placed on the NFL, generating a handle of $535,520 and a win of $114,341, followed by NCAA football, which saw a handle of $296,441 and a win of $19,413.
