Figures published by the South Dakota Commission on Gaming showed that handle across slot gaming, table games, and sports betting was a little more than $134 million for March, compared to $127 million recorded the previous year, up 5.4%.
Slots registered $123.7 million, up 5.6% from $117.1 million in March 2024. Table games generated a handle of $8.7 million, down 0.5% from $8.76 million. Of the table games figure, blackjack was the primary revenue driver, at $4.13 million, while house and player-banked poker combined for $3.6 million.
Seven South Dakota casinos reported a sports betting handle of $1.58 million, up almost 27% from last year’s $1.24 million.
The bulk of the sports betting handle was generated by wagers on NCAA Men’s basketball, spurred on by the annual March Madness tournament. That produced $1.2 million, while NBA wagers, fueled by the close of the NBA regular season, contributed a little more than $149,000.
