Gaming manufacturers are always rolling out new products; a massive exhibition space at each year’s Global Gaming Expo (“G2E”) is proof enough of that. Scientific Games, as one of the world’s largest gaming, lottery, and interactive casino providers, is no exception. The Scientific Games EMPOWER customer conference, held March 7-9 at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip, gave the company a chance to showcase its latest new products and services to over 550 casino operators in attendance from across the globe.

Even 10 years ago, Scientific Games’ predecessors (companies acquired by Scientific Games), chiefly WMS Gaming and Bally Technologies, would have offered mostly slot machines and the systems that support them. But the industry has changed profoundly since then, and Scientific Games offers far more than slot machines: in addition to its vast suite of lottery-related products and services, the company offers social and interactive games as well as casino and slot monitoring and management systems and, of course, slot machines.

New products for the slot floor include new entries for the TwinStar™ family of cabinets. TwinStar is Scientific Games’ latest gaming platform that offer cutting-edge features and can play content from both Bally® and WMS® product lines.

The TwinStar J43 features a 43-inch J-curve display with 4K screen resolution, dual core Intel processor, enhanced graphics processors, a robust sound system including a 5.25 inch subwoofer, enhanced bezel lighting, and a USB charging station — a welcome player convenience. It also has candles that display custom lighting sequences, livening up a necessary but often overlooked element of the slot machine. New games for this cabinet include Zeus Unleashed™, Kronos Unleashed™, and Wonder Woman Bullets and Bracelets.

The new TwinStar 3RM shows how Scientific Games is adapting technology to old favorites. It integrates all of the TwinStar features into a classic mechanical reel game, bringing features from modern video slots to stepper games. It even has an optional handle. So while the games might play like classic spinning reel games, they don’t sacrifice the latest technological innovations. Titles for the 3RM include WOW Wheels on Wild™.

Dualos is a new platform that is for sale outside of North America which features dual monitors and supports content from Bally, WMS, and Shufflemaster. Its latest title is Very Cherry, a fruit-based game which are popular in Europe with a dynamic bonus feature.

Ultimate Fire Link™ is featured on two new games, China Street and Olvera Street, which offer hold- and-play features and bonus rounds, as well as a four-level progressive.

Anchorman The Legend of Ron Burgundy™ brings star power to the new TwinStar 24/43 cabinet. The game features video clips from the movie and new voiceovers from film narrator Bill Curtis. Bonus rounds include a 19-high and five-across free spin. The new GameScape™ cabinet is represented by one of TV’s longest-running sitcoms and animated shows — THE SIMPSONS™ theme.

The PRIZM Game Table™, a recent technology award winner, is being debuted with Lightning Launch Roulette. A central roulette wheel is surrounded by four betting stations with over 100 touch points each, including traditional roulette bets as well as bonus bets. The game is currently in testing and is expected to be rolled out over summer. Another table offering, Shuffle Titan, is a progressive interface that, for the first time, ties into Scientific Games’ systems product line. It can sense different denomination chips and accepts credits from tickets or a player’s loyalty account. The real feature, though, is dynamic bonusing, which will let players spin wheels to bet the Blazing 7s Blackjack progressive from any table game.

Scientific Games’ new products demonstrate how the company continues to strive to create new platforms and titles to engage players.
