Rhode Island’s online casinos in the state saw spending of more than $80.7 million in September, with the state’s online gambling operator generating more than $3.1 million in net gaming revenue, the Rhode Island Lottery has reported.

The September casino spending and NGR totals were the highest in Rhode Island’s online casino history, beating highs from the previous month. Online casino gambling in Rhode Island launched in March, so there are no year-on-year comparisons.

Increased casino spending was powered by greater spending on online slots, with slot spending jumping by more than 17.3 percent month-over-month to more than $49.4 million. That offset a slight drop in online table game spending, falling 3.5 percent to $31.3 million. The NGR from online table games also was significantly lower than in previous months, with $695,252 NGR falling below the NGR in July, despite having a higher casino spend.

The online casino industry in Rhode Island is powered by Bally’s Corp. and has been boosted throughout 2024 by the launch of new games from developers like White Hat Gaming.

Meanwhile, players spent more than $345.1 million at video lottery terminals at Rhode Island’s two casinos during September, Bally’s Twin River Casino and Bally’s Tiverton Casino. The land-based casino industry could receive a shakeup if a clean-air bill proposed by lawmakers passes.
