Century Casinos’ United States and Canadian operations were the highlight of its second-quarter earnings.
The company’s revenue ticked up one percent to $152 million, translating into a loss of $10.9 million for the quarter. Cash flow grew five percent to $31.7 million.
Revenue increased for divisions except the East segment of the U.S., down two percent, and in Poland, where takings plunged 19 percent or $4.8 million. The largest increase was recorded in the U.S. West division, where earnings surged 16 percent to $23.4 million.
Both the Midwest and Canadian divisions showed a profit for the quarter. Operations in Canada were in the black to the tune of $1.1 million. Midwestern U.S. casinos showed a profit of $6 million. The biggest loss, $14 million, came from Poland.
Century’s balance sheet was dragged down by the 19 percent decline in Poland, where the company made $19.9 million. Canadian casinos turned a profit on $20.4 million in revenue.
In a joint statement, Century CEOs Peter Hoetzinger and Erwin Haitzmann expressed pleasure with the performance of Century’s Midwest and West divisions, “driven by a strong performance at the Nugget” in Sparks. That property saw a 93 percent increase in cash flow during the quarter.
“Unfortunately, the results in North America were negatively impacted by Poland, which continued to underperform due, in part, to low table hold in June 2026. However, we are seeing some signs of improvement in Poland that should lead to better results over the next several quarters,” Hoetziner and Haitzmann wrote.
Century ended the second quarter with $60.2 million cash on hand and debt of $336.5 million.
