Resorts World Las Vegas yesterday received approval from the Clark County Commission to move forward with constructing a passenger station and tunnel that will connect the new resort to the Las Vegas Convention Center. The tunnel will be an extension of Elon Musk’s transportation system currently being built underneath the Convention Center; passengers will be transported to Resorts World in driverless all-electric Tesla vehicles in under just two minutes.
“We’re eager to take the next steps in creating an innovative transportation solution for our convention guests and visitors,” said Scott Sibella, President of Resorts World Las Vegas.
The decision comes after an application and design plans were submitted for the tunnel and passenger station to the Board of County Commissioners on June 1. The decision moves the project into the next phase of the permitting process. Construction is anticipated to begin by the end of this year.
Resorts World Las Vegas is scheduled to open sometime in the summer of 2021.
