Data science firm ReelMetrics said Wednesday it has hired Chris Housel as head its professional services unit.

Housel replaces former VP of Professional Services Don Retzlaff, who recently retired. Retzlaff will remain with ReelMetrics in an advisory and special projects capacity.

“We’re delighted to have Chris join ReelMetrics in this critical role,” ReelMetrics Co-Founder & CEO Nick Hogan said in a statement. “In many ways, Chris personifies a new generation of tech and data-savvy gaming professionals who are eagerly leveraging changes in the industry’s data landscape to extract transformative operational and marketing efficiencies. We have the upmost confidence that, when applied collaboratively with the frontline expertise of our subscriber organizations, Chris’ unique skill set and experiences, like Don’s, will prove invaluable to our entire subscriber base.”

Housel most recently was Gaming Analytics’ vice president of product and business development. He also served in operational, analytical and product management roles with Penn Entertainment and Rush Street Interactive.

Housel also is the founder of PDX Slots, a firm specializing in remote gaming server solutions for online casino suppliers.

“As one who’s had the unique opportunity to work with ReelMetrics offerings, I’m entering this role with a profound appreciation for the company’s technical, analytical and intellectual horsepower,” Housel said. “Having analyzed the industry’s analytical scene for years, I’ve felt that ReelMetrics is the only firm within the space that has the right data set, modeling, core tech and focus to deliver truly differentiating optimization strategies and financial returns. It will be a great privilege to build on the professional services infrastructure that Don created here, and it’s with great enthusiasm that I look forward to working with the ReelMetrics team and the company’s many valued subscribers.”

“In welcoming Chris to ReelMetrics, I would also like to extend an enormous, heartfelt thanks to Don, who has contributed enormously to both ReelMetrics and its subscribers,” Hogan said, “and who leaves Chris with an incredible foundation of cutting-edge methods, models and practices.”
