The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Wednesday reported that revenue generated from all forms of gaming, including fantasy contests, was $474.9 million in December. That figure is an increase of 16.9% compared to December 2021 and the Keystone State’s highest monthly total ever.

The previous revenue record was $462.7 million in March 2022.

December is the fourth consecutive month that gaming revenue topped $420 million in Pennsylvania and the tenth month in 2023 that the state’s gaming operators generated more than $400 million.

Revenue was boosted by year over year increases in igaming slots, $91.6 million, up 33.1% over 2021; igaming table games, $40.3 million, a 33.4% increase; and sports betting, which generated $54.6 million, a whopping increase of 190.2% over the previous year.

“Gambling on igaming sites is getting more popular as players get more comfortable with online wagering and its integrity, along with having more site options and increases of the number of games within the sites,” said PGCB Director of Communications Douglas Harbach told CDC Gaming Reports via email.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National in Grantsville led all Pennsylvania brick-and-mortar casinos with revenue of $74.9 million, an increase of 27.3% over December 2021. Slot revenue reached $198.0 million, an uptick of 1.3% over December 2021 despite seven operators reporting revenue decreases. Parx Casino led with  $32.7 million, a year over year decrease of 2.7%. Rivers Casino Pittsburgh generated 22.8 million, a slight year over year increase of 0.2%, and Wind Creek Bethlehem also had a minor increase of 1.3% to $22.1 million.
