A group of workers from Rivers Casino Pittsburgh will be skipping work Wednesday – for a great cause.
Volunteers from the casino’s Rivers Gives program will partner with Veterans Place in Pittsburgh as it prepares transitional housing for homeless veterans by cleaning and organizing designated townhouses.
“Helping our region’s veterans get back on their feet is both an honor and a responsibility and we’re grateful for Rivers Casino’s support,” said Veterans Place Development Manager Maria Mongelluzzo in a statement.
Founded in 1996, Veterans Place is a nonprofit organization in Pittsburgh that addresses homelessness among U.S. military veterans. The organization annually assists more than 800 vets, offering transitional housing and the Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program, a drop-in service center.
“It’s a privilege to help and contribute to the mission of Veterans Place, which continues to champion the well-being of the esteemed veterans within our community,” said Rivers Casino Pittsburgh Director of Community Relations Dr. Rahmon Hart. “The Rivers Gives team remains a proud ally of those who have served, protected, and sacrificed for our country.”
