The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Tuesday reported total gaming revenue of $461.6 million for the month of April. That’s a year-over-year increase of 14%, and only a slight decrease from March 2022, when the commonwealth reported a record $462.7 million generated by all forms of gaming.

PGCB Director of Communications Doug Harbach attributed the increases in March and April, after three consecutive months of declining revenue, to two factors.

“Players are continuing to be comfortable in utilizing the growing iGaming options coupled with the additional casinos that have opened in the past two years which are gaining market maturity and offering more regional gaming opportunities,” Harbach wrote in an email.

In April, igaming revenue reached $113.1 million compared to $92.7 million in April 2021, a jump of 22%.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National in Grantville led all brick-and-mortar casinos in the state in total revenue reporting $65.6 million, a 22.5% increase over April 2021. Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia, with a year-over-year increase of 53.8%, generated $57.4 million. While Parx Casino reported a decrease in revenue of 9.3%, it still brought in $57.1 million, the third-highest gaming revenue in the commonwealth.

Statewide, slot revenue for April was $217.9 million, an 8.2% year-over-year increase. Parx Casino generated $35.8 million in slot revenue, a decrease of -4.78% from April 2021. Wind Creek Bethlehem’s $25.0 million and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh’s $23.8 million rounded out the top three slot revenue generators.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National led igaming revenue with $45.2 million. Rivers Casino Philadelphia generated $28.8 million in igaming revenue, and Valley Forge Casino Resort brought in $21.5 million.

Total handle for sports betting in April was $572.8 million, yielding revenue of $33.6 million. Valley Forge continued its long-running streak of the highest handle in the state with $228.2 million and revenue of $22.8 million, which was approximately two-thirds of all revenue generated by sports betting in April. Hollywood Casino at the Meadows reported a handle of $120.4 million and revenue of $3.5 million. The handle at Hollywood Casino Morgantown was $66.4 million, but revenue was only $40,200.
