Pennsylvania gamblers are wagering more than ever.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Thursday reported that December 2023 revenue from all forms of gaming was a record $534,215,808. That outpaces the previous monthly record in the commonwealth, set in March 2023, of $515,278,831. The December revenue is a year-over-year increase of 12.5%.
The PGCB also reported record monthly revenue from igaming of $165,110,845, surpassing $159,490,505 in September 2023; and sports wagering revenue of $72,506,446, surpassing $63,674,326 in November 2021.
Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia led all Pennsylvania casinos with $92.1 million in gaming revenue, a year-over-year increase of 42.7%. Hollywood Casino at Penn National in Grantsville posted revenue of $75.6 million, a 0.98% increase compared to December 2022, and Park Casino generated revenue of $57.4 million, a year-over-year increase of 5.2%.
Pennsylvania slot revenue in December was $207.7 million, a 4.9 increase compared to December 2022. Parx Casino brought in slot revenue of $32.4 million, a slight year-over-year decrease of 1.0%. Wind Creek Bethlehem generated $23.4 million, an increase of 5.9% compared to the previous year, and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh generated $23.4 million, a 2.2% increase.
The record $165.1 million igaming revenue, including slots, table games, and poker, was led by Hollywood Casino at Penn National, with $60.9 million. Valley Forge Casino Resort reported $41.3 million, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia posted $26.2 million in igaming revenue.
The sports betting record revenue of $72.5 million, from a handle of $925.6 million, was led by Valley Forge Casino Resort. The King of Prussia casino’s $394.2 million handle yielded revenue of $39.2 million. Hollywood Casino at the Meadows in Meadowlands reported sports betting revenue of $19.2 million from a handle of $235.7 million, and Hollywood Casino Morgantown generated revenue of $3.6 million from a handle of $52.0 million.
