Pennsylvania: Gaming revenue reaches $467.0 million in July

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Thursday reported revenue of $467,043,707 for July from all forms of gambling. That total is a year-over-year increase of 8.8%, and bests June 2023’s total by 5.7%.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National in Grantsville led Pennsylvania with $70.1 million in total gaming revenue, a 25.6% increase year-over-year. Parx Casino in Philadelphia followed with $56.1 million in revenue, a slight decrease of -0.48% compared to July 2022. Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia generated $54.6 million, a year-over-year increase of 32.1%.

Slot revenue for July was $214.6 million, a slight bump of 0.36% from the same period in 2022. Parx Casino generated the most slot revenue for the month, $33.3 million, a year-over-year decrease of -1.0%. Wind Creek Bethlehem reported slot revenue of $25.2 million, an increase of 2.3% over July 2022, and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh’s slot revenue was $23.7 million, a year-over-year drop of -3.5%.

Revenue from igaming, including slots, table games and poker, was $132.8 million. Hollywood Casino at Penn National posted $54.3 million from igaming, followed by Valley Forge Casino Resort’s $29.2 million, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia’s $26.8 million.

Sports betting revenue in the Keystone State was $32.1 million, a year-over-year increase of 26.1%, with a handle of $338.4 million. Valley Forge Casino Resort generated revenue of $13.6 million from a handle of $127.6 million to again lead the state in both categories. Hollywood Casino at the Meadows in Meadowlands had $8.50 million in revenue from sports wagering, and a handle of $88.9 million. Hollywood Casino Morgantown’s sports betting revenue of $1.869 million (handle: $24.5 million) barely topped Parx Casino’s $1.866 million from a handle of $16.1 million.
